Bali’s world-famous soothsayer, Jro I Ketut Liyer, has died at age 100 at the Surya Usada Hospitalon Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 10:45 pm after a long illness.
Made famous in Edith Gilbert’s best selling the book Eat, Pray Love and the 2010 film by the same name, those of us who remember Ketut Liyer before encountering him on the pages of Gilbert’s book, recall an amiable and welcoming elderly gentleman who “held court” reading personal auras and forecasting the future for a steady stream of locals and foreigners who passed through traditional Balinese compound each day.
